When we started hiring for apibanking, we had two simple criteria:

  1. Do we enjoy working with this person?
  2. Do we believe that this person can influence the direction of our company?

  • Lead Frontend (VP)

    Develop the customer, developer and bank staff-facing interfaces across our products.

    Every product we ship has a face: the customer onboarding journey, the developer portal, the console a relationship manager uses on a busy branch floor. We want each of them to be functionally great and delightful to use, even when the systems underneath are some of the most complex in banking.

    About you

    You're a builder who has led frontend teams on complex, high-traffic applications. You care deeply about interface quality, accessibility and performance, and you know how to set a design and engineering bar that a team can hold. You're scrappy - you know what it takes to ship enterprise-grade software, and how to take the calls that keep it fast-moving.

    • Building a shared component system and frontend architecture used across every product
    • Working closely with design, product and our customers to understand how real users get work done

    Own the frontend architecture across our products - customer journeys, partner and developer portals, and staff-assisted consoles. Lead and grow the frontend team, set standards for quality and accessibility, and ship improvements weekly or even daily alongside our customers.

    You'll be a fit if you have

    • 15+ years of frontend engineering experience, including leading teams
    • Deep expertise in React, TypeScript and modern web architecture
    • A user-first mindset - you advocate for an inclusive experience for every user group
    • Attention to detail, and the judgement to know where it matters most

  • Testing and QA (VP)

    Build automated test coverage across our products, catching regressions early and speeding up how confidently we ship.

    Banks trust our platforms with money movement, customer data and regulatory journeys. Quality is not a phase at the end of a release - it is how we earn the right to ship fast.

    About you

    You're a builder who thinks about quality as engineering. You have led QA and test automation for complex systems, and you know how to design a strategy that makes a team faster, not slower. You know when to automate, when to test by hand, and how to make that call quickly.

    What excites you

    • Designing test strategy from scratch for loosely defined, fast-changing products
    • Building automation frameworks for APIs, web and mobile journeys
    • Working with engineering and customers to understand where things are most likely to break

    Own quality across our product suite. Build automated coverage for APIs, integrations and user journeys, wire it into our CI/CD pipelines, and lead the team that keeps our releases predictable for our banking customers.

    • Hands-on experience with API, web and mobile test automation frameworks
    • Experience with performance, security and regression testing at scale

  • Agent Experience Engineer

    Make our APIs, docs and sandboxes as easy for AI agents to use as they are for developers.

    Developer experience is critical to our vision. Increasingly, the developer integrating with a bank is an AI agent working alongside a human. We want our platforms to be the easiest place for both to build.

    About you

    You're a builder who is excited by how AI agents discover, understand and use software. You have built developer tools, APIs or LLM-powered systems, and you care about the experience of whoever - or whatever - is on the other end of the interface.

    What excites you

    • Exploring new paradigms like MCP, tool calling and agent-readable documentation
    • Diving into loosely defined problem statements and finding your own path forward
    • Prototyping quickly, measuring what works, and turning it into product

    Design and build the agent-facing layer of our platforms - MCP servers, machine-readable API specs, agent-friendly sandboxes and docs, and evaluation tooling that shows how well agents succeed with our products.

    You'll be a fit if you have

    • 4+ years of backend, full-stack or developer tooling experience
    • Hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agent frameworks
    • A developer-first mindset, and strong instincts for API and documentation design
    • Comfort with ambiguity - this is a new discipline and you will help define it
    • Good to have - experience in financial services or with enterprise APIs

  • Forward-Deployed Engineer (SDE 2/3)

    Add features to the product from real-life use cases and client work, working on-site with banking teams to ship what they need.

    Our best product ideas come from the field. Forward-deployed engineers sit closest to our customers - inside their teams, in their systems - and turn real problems into features the whole platform benefits from.

    About you

    You're a builder who enjoys working directly with customers. You can understand a bank's legacy systems in the morning and ship an integration by evening. You're scrappy - you know what it takes to ship high-quality enterprise-grade software, and how to keep it fast-moving.

    • Working on-site with customer teams to understand their use cases first-hand
    • Shipping solutions in the field, then generalising them back into the core product
    • Seeing the direct impact of your work on a live banking program

    Embed with client teams to deliver integrations and journeys on our platforms. Build new features from real-life use cases, feed learnings back to the core engineering team, and help our customers get to production faster.

    • 3-6 years of full-stack / backend engineering experience

    • Experience integrating with enterprise systems and third-party APIs
    • Strong communication - driving adoption is as important as the engineering

  • SRE / CI-CD and DevOps

    Own reliability, deployment pipelines and infrastructure as we scale.

    Our platforms run inside banks, on clouds and on-premise, under strict uptime and compliance expectations. As we scale, reliability and fast, safe deployment become a core part of the product.

    About you

    You're a builder who loves infrastructure. You have run production systems at scale, built CI/CD pipelines that teams love, and you know how to balance reliability with speed. You automate everything you can and document what you can't.

    What excites you

    • Designing deployment pipelines that let the team ship daily with confidence
    • Running workloads across cloud and on-premise bank environments
    • Building observability that catches problems before customers do

    Own our infrastructure, CI/CD and reliability practice. Build and maintain deployment pipelines, define SLOs and on-call, harden security and compliance, and support customer deployments across environments.

    You'll be a fit if you have

    • Strong experience with Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure-as-code and major cloud providers

    About you

    You're a builder who happens to lead product. You have shipped complex B2B or developer products, you can talk to a bank's CXO and an engineer in the same afternoon, and you know how to make sharp calls on scope to keep the team moving.

    • Defining new product categories in open banking and embedded finance
    • Working closely with customers, engineering and design to understand use cases deeply
